Default AU Falcon Road Trip To Melbourne

While I can appreciate that anyone from these parts that are already making the trip to Melbourne for FPV and may not be up for another so soon, I thought possibly some of you guys might like to make the trip for the planned BBQ on the 23rd of April in Melbourne.
Thread on it here: http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=29959

Tuesday April 25 is the Anzac Day public holiday, so I have arranged to have Monday of from work. I thought we could leave Canberra between 7 & 8, meet travellers from Sydney and surrounding area's at Yass, and make the 8 hour trip south to Melbourne. We would leave Saturday the 22nd stay both Saturday and Sunday night's and head back home on the Monday. Stop at FPV on Monday for a look around.

This is a quick trip. Lets do something different and get to Melbourne for AU Fest 2006 :

I won't formally make plans yet until I have other's who are keen. But if you are interested, put up your name and let me know. I can look into accomodation as well.

Anyway, for now, I'm just interested in names. As time gets closer i will look into Accomodation. Maybe stay @ St Georges Motor Inn like we do for FPV weekend.

Cheers

Buckie

I made some enquiries today in terms of accomodation. I'll put something together soon and have it available for download.

You know I'm in - it is a bit far off yet (date wise) but do you have a meeting place and/or canberra exit route from the meeting place you might have in mind?

Usually we meet at Exhibition Park Shell Servo. Gives people time for fuel and to stock up. Usually depart from there and head up the barton.

A run sheet with some information is ready to download

http://members.ozemail.com.au/~dwayn...e/RoadTrip.pdf

Do a Save as.

If the guys from Sydney want to send me details of their departure times and places from Sydney, please send them to me via PM.

The sheet gives you some basic information.

Thanks

well if we can get a list of exactly who is driving down from Sydney, then we can allocate a meet point.... unless everyone in sydney just wants to make their own way to Yass everyone can regroup at the Service Center/Meet with all the people from ACT, and then head off??
Baring in mind, the guys from Syd, its gonna be a ***** trying to stay together while getting onto the Hume, especially via the Cumberland Highway.(depending on time, if we are to meet buckey and the rest at Yass at 9.30am, we need to be driving by 6.30am, ideally 6am so we get a small break in Yass)

What we can do is to arrange it so if you guys are running late by the time we get to Yass, then theres no drama's stopping long enough so you guys get enough of a break.

I've been a little generous on the times between Yass and Melbourne. From Yass to Albury is around 290k's. So we can do that easily under 3 hours. I've allowed a little extra between Albury and Melbourne as it's a straight run of about 3 hours. Give a little extra time for the trip to the hotel. I'm mre concerned about Vic and the zero tolerance for 1 k over the limit. This is why I've factored in a little extra. Nothing worst than having to go home with a fine and the loss of a few points. Once we are all together, we make our own time. It's really to ensure we get times down, so anyone joinging us along the way will have some information to go from.

well I spose it dosnet make all that much of a difference if we make it there at 5pm or 10pm, unless the hotel has a certain time we have to all be booked in by?

I'm not sure if JMM is open on the Sunday. But the BBQ isn't till lunch time, so you got sometime on Sunday to get out there.

I think it has 24 hour reception. My last 2 FPV weekends I checked in around 10 pm. So theres no deadline.

Please make sure you have your name (and how many people) on the main list in the BBQ thread. I'll need an accruate number so we can cater enough for everyone.. the $10 per car is going to pay for all food and softdrinks, you wont need to bring anything (except fold out chairs)

That's cool. I think most people will make their own plans for getting home. I'd like to visit JMM as well, but I think I'd prefer to get to FPV and buy a few things.

Since I have all the AWC pretty stuff, there is nothing left for me to get, except keyrings and coffee cups :

Maybe I might visit Jimbo Mock as well. I still have to get my 3" intake to go with my new rocker cover

As Greenrob had mentioned Uncle Leo's Servo is the place to meet for all Sydney guys to head down the Freeway and meet the Canberra guys at the Yass Service Centre. This place has been a regular starting/meet point for many car clubs for a long time.
