Make sure there is a fluid in the box.
I know I have had issues on cold morning when it doesn't like shifting from 1st to 2nd (when in D) ... it choses N instead and revs till it engages the next gear (1 minute later). Best to get an auto specialist or trusted mechanic to look at it.

Give all the plugs a wiggle on the side of the trans too - I went into limp mode again on Tuesday because I had a bad connection.

hey guys,
heres the full story now I get the chance, used 2 be an e-series member by the name of EB-Phoenix, had a silver eb with blue playboy bunnies if neone can remember. Neway older and working now so brought the a black au xls series one with black interior and began decking it out with pullout trays in the back, cabin tidy units, curtains, double bed, mp3 player 6 speakers (2 yet 2 come 4 the back) and then a month later my reverse gear died in the bum. after much mucking around and having the car dealers try and dodge me and get me 2 pay 4 half of the fix, after only having the car for 1 month and less then 500kms, I got it all done under warranty I needed bands and clutchs I think it was, replaced in the tranny. was gonna cost close 2 a grand if I had 2 pay. So yeah go it back and have 2 send it back again soon I think, cuz it goes 2 limp home mode every now and again and only gives me 3rd gear, so they have reset all the codes 2day and we're gonna see what happens, the tranny workshop seem 2 have good blokes that are lookin after me, so yay!!! after all transmission issues are fixed a new radiator, a gas tank, muffler and front lowering are on the cards. neway heres the beast thats causin me issues but im lovin it more each day |

Ford says the auto trans in this model dont need replacement oil or filters there no listing in the service intervals in the owners manual so it just gets sided stepped.
This has got to be another way for Ford to make money and lots of it cause when they do die they cost heaps to fix. I said Pffft to that I Idea ( really I don't think that they're that bullet proof) and since there is no way to check the level (no dip stick), I replaced the seal and the filter in the auto at the 100 000km service and flushed through about 15 litres of trans oil too. I reckon spending a extra $100 or so dollars back then was worth the effort and hopefully save me heaps in the future with no tranny problems plus I know that the auto is like new again. Its got 125 000km on it now, I give it plenty and its all good.
