Default ABS light

Im having the ABS warning light come on every now and then, it doesn't stay on but I'm wondering what exactly is causing this.
The ABS works with the light off but I haven't been able to test when its been on because I want a wet road to test cos its easier to lock the wheels.
Has anyone else had the same problem?

Yep I have the same problem its only just started to do it :yeees: . I think it may be a lose wire or something because mine seems to come on if the road is rough or I hit a bump. I havent tried to see if the ABS still works with the light on though :

Clean built-up dirt/rubber off the sensors.

Then, if it still happens, stop doing burnouts...

Check your tyre pressures, do you have different size/aspect ratio tyres front to rear etc? Could be a fault with a sensor, have seen some fail when heatsoaked, an oscilloscope is needed to test for this.

I had the ABS light coming on intermittently in my ute for about 3 months before it was just on all the time.

I checked all the sensor wires one day and found on had been getting caught in the leaf-springs. It was completely munted....but nothing a bit of solder and some leccy tape couldn't fix :P

Must be a dirty sensor then because the avg speed on the trip computer is erratic after reseting and that works off the ABS sensors

Question AU1 Ghia ABS & Traction Control Lights.

Mine also started coming on intermittently, usually only when the car warmed up. At that stage the local FORD dealer ran diagnostics which showed that no problem had registered on the fault log..

Now the lights are both on almost full-time. Given the presence of the Traction Light, I am assuming that the fault must be in one of the rear sensors, rather than the front.

I have checked the rear sensors and toothed wheels, and they both superficially look OK, but I have not disconnected them for a more thorough clean.

If anyone can suggest what I should do next, I would really appreciate it.

both my lights are always on still and have tried cleaning the sensors etc and made sure all front connections are good(which is where i was working when the problem started occuring)

the traction control and ABS WILL NOT work with the lights ON.. as it is showing there is a fault

its not of too much concern to me as all my prev cars have had non abs and no tcs so im not too phased

but i do need to get it fixed just that other things like engine servicing and stuff is more of a priority.. as it still stops fine!

Default AU1 GHIA Traction/ABS Replaced.

I recently had the electronics on the ABS/Traction Ctl unit replaced with a recon. unit. Problem fixed, and both warning lights now go out.. It is apparently not uncommon for circuit boards in these Bosch units to crack, and various electronics houses now have a fluorishing business reconditioning the duds.

Better to pay $490- fitted for this than $1500 to $2000 for Ford dealer to replace with a new unit!@

There's a mob on ebay that repair your abs/traction module for around $200
