Hi just a quick question if i want to keep original ford fairlane mags can they be polished I know that they have a clear coat would a polisher be able to remove and polish so they shine or would it be easier to replace? tyres are 205/65/15 would 225,s still fit i would like too keep standard look

Normally the clearcoat would be removed with paint stripper or if just trying to do the outter face then sanded.

Then it would be polished, NOTE will not stay super shiny unless polished regularly, or resealed with clear (Think Bull bars)

Thanks coyote your saying get polished professionally then clear coat is that correct? any idea if 225's will replace 205's on standard rims?

Yes that's the general idea, just make sure that the polishers can polish the bits that you want done, some designs do not allow for polishing
NOTe also that when polished clear does not stick that well, Ie can chip quite easily.

As for the tyre size, check with a tyre fitter, One comment that I will make is that a tyre that is too bulbus in the sidewall will have less grip than one where the sidewall is nice and straight, I actually got narrower tyres for one of my cars to do just that and it now turns in so much better.
