Holy ИИИИ, theres a lot to be had out of the old pushrod V8's, would have been interesting to see how much it could have made if it didn't catch on fire

i saw that car in street commodores i think - the thing out the front is the radiato, not and intercooler, and 'allegedly' the car cost 200k or something rediculous...the boot is chockers with a water to air setup, IMHO it would weigh about 300 or more kg than stock...apparently also built to make 2000hp.

1200 is a lot, but its a lot shy of the figure it was built for :S

i dont envy that guy.

I really hope not...

Anyone can make tonnes of power with a blower or turbo on a dyno.
It seems allot of commodore boys are happy to wack 100psi boost through their hangrenades just to win a piece of plastic at a dyno comp.
$20K motor lunched for a $2 trophy, Hmmmmm...

My cousin has done a fair amount of work on that car.. and let me tell you its had ALOT more than $200K thrown at it. The cooler setup alone cost somewhere around the $110K mark which is well worth it when the intake temps are measured in negative degrees! I've seen that data logs of this thing and some of the figures registered are unbelievable. The 1200 horses it achieved was probably with the boost wound down to single digits...

nizpro have that 1200hp XR6T engine. However I'm not sure it was put into a falcon, although i did hear rumours of a couple of people slapping the $$ down.

WTF! How on earth could a water to air setup cost that much? Did Bill Gates and Donald Trump hand build it or something?

Thats exactly what i said when i was told - keep in mind that it is a completely custom job so it'll most likely to include not only the hardware, but also design and development. This clearly isn't a case of 'slap it together and she'll be right mate', it would've been modeled, simulated, prototyped, flowed, optimised etc etc all of which costs big $$$. There was an article in Street Machine last month confirming the $$ spent and numbers this thing is capable of.

All this to impress a bunch of yobos : ... Personally i would've bought a Murcielago

That engine is worth significantly more than $20K.. the turbos alone would probably be worth $8-10K. Hell, building a decent 347 Windsor with all the good bits (and i mean really good bits like dart block, AFR heads etc etc) would even set you back $15K assuming you had someone screw the thing together for you...

1 hp = .745 kw.

1211 * .745= 902kw

Ha ha ha, that's one way of looking at it.

As for the intercoolers, I've heard of people doing refrigerative heat exchanger set-ups. Some people have just got toooo much money.
