Back yonder in EL days I always found an easy way to spot a car that had been in a prang was the grey airbag on a momo instead of the original black. Whether that was due lack of availability in later days or lazy crash repairers I dont know, but it made it easy to see it'd been replaced.
I'm just checking out a BA with the red/black leather Momo option, and the airbag is grey which has me bugged. I cant find a good pic of a red/black option wheel to double check....am I worried for nothing, is it grey standard? Any help appreciated

Well if i put a Momo option wheel on my Territory ... I'd have a grey centre as the factory airbag colour is grey in the TX.
It might be the same for some Falcon models. I know it is the case in the AUs for the lower-spec models that have light grey interiors with the Momo option wheel in a different colour.

Thanks Mechan1K..
Yeah Im not sure what the standard steering wheels colour was in the EL XR...just know mine was black and Id seen some in yards with mismatching grey bags. I checked through the 'Show us Your BA' thread but couldnt spot a red option wheel...though I did think the blue and black ones I saw MIGHT have had grey bags . Hoping someone with a red one spots this question!

The Bag doesnt come with the wheel, so if the Red/Black wheels been fitted to a BA with the grey interior which isnt the dark charcoal then yes the wheel will be a different colour to the airbag.
But the Dash etc will be the same colour as the airbag! Last edited by Smoke Pursuit; 03-06-2006 at 09:06 PM. |

Hehehe ok I'll take it that the grey airbag is ok...
Ford mustve gone the cheaper route since the EL. The black leather on the old Momo with the same shade of airbag looked a treat I'll have to do a panel check instead of being so bloody lazy Thank you all

As for ELs, dealer could install the Momo wheel after it arrived from the factory and I imagine some just kept the grey centre to save a few $$$
