Hmm, got an Essendon membership after years of not following AFL. Wife talked me into it. I used to follow Fitzroy. Essendon is playing the same level of footy as poor old Fitzroy did in their last days. At least they had an excuse.

It is time to go......Kevin SHEEDY

To be honest, while I love my Crows, I did feel for the Bombers, their players and fans and also Sheeds. I have always liked Sheedy, I like his sense of humour and his ability to have a laugh at himself. I like his accessibility, ie on the Footy Show and he does have a great record as a coach.

It is debateable as to how much the coach is responsible for a performance like that. I do think the players should have done a better job than that, but perhaps they just didnt have the skills. Perhaps the team just doesnt have the talent at the moment.

In any case, it would have been heartbreaking for a Bombers fan to watch, especially a member. But I hope their fans stick with them through the hard times, as that is the most loyal kind of supporter, which the club needs.

Hmmmm.

I stuck with the Lions to the end. Now that I adopted Essendon I will follow them like wise. Like the pies, they will rise again!! :

Its not that Essendon is playing bad, its that 15 other clubs are playing better.

As a Melbourne fan from a family of Essendon supporters, I am loving any loss for them, but this one just takes the cake.

Getting a new coach isn't really going to do much, not much you can do with the current line up.

Essendon are in a similar boat to what Collingwood were in last year, they are crippled by injuries and in a comp so competitive if a few key position players are gone it makes a lot of difference

I'de rather see Carlton down the bottom but it's great to see Collingwood near the top again!

It's not a question of do theyreplace the coach , It's a question of who do they replace him with!

Maybe Malcolm Blight if he would come back to coaching
Gary Ayres, a good assistant but he has had the helm of clubs for a long time with little result
Definately not bloomin' Wallesy
Proberbly Mark Harvey but he hasn't proven anything yet so he may be no better than sheeds, depends if they would take a risk on a new coach i guess.

Well said. Like they're saying about Pagan at the moment, can anyone else get any more out of the current players available than Sheedy is. Worse case he'll blood some young fellas and really get to see what they're like, and providing he doesn't win more than 4 more games will get full advantage in the draft ready for next season where they'll be a much better team. The man is alot smarter than people give him credit for and to be not only keeping up with the times but also active in changing the way this great game has evolved(especialy at his age), he is a true legend of the game. I love my Tigers but you have to respect the true greats of the game, and he is one.

GO THE PIES!!!! I hate the bombers with a passion, as I do Carlton. My immediate family is a bombers clan, and I love it at the moment. I hope this scene repeats every week.

DEF: Bad = relative term

compared to other teams in the same league, Essendon = below average proficiency at winning.

thus

Essendon = playing badly

QED.

PS, Essendon supporters annoy me

Despite the fact I support Essendon, I will never be passionate about AFL again, after they murdered Fitzroy. Also the game is going down gurgler fast, with the flooding, weak umpire decisions and silly new rules is becoming un watchable....

I am going to watch Rugby state of origin in July, see what their game is like....

Sheedy has a alternate motive, at least he will get a first pick of the draft. And some good players will be out of contract...

Absolutely. I'll be going to every Essendon game possible this season. Shame on those that aren't going along this season :

I seriously believe we will be like Collingwood was last year. They were missing Buckley and Rocca and they struggled. We are missing the best full forward in the competition (Lloyd) and a champion in James Hird. Not to mention Camporeale. We'll be back for sure.

Oh and Gary O'Donnell (sp?) is the man for the job once Sheedy pulls the pin.
