Default AU air con query

Hi all,

Just a quick question re air conditioning compressors for the AUs. Can someone tell me whether the compressors are the same for both the I6s and V8s or are they different?

Cheers

Good idea Woosha. I'll check both compressors and get back to you.

***EDIT****
I took the numbers off the yellow label attached to the compressor.
My AU1 1999 XR8 has: WR2H 130629-AC (The XR8 also has G-82 stamped into the front of the compressor)
My AU2 2001 Forte has : WR2H 190629-AC (G-92 stamped into compressor)

Thanks for that JC.

I think the code of the Forte compressor might be WR2H 19D629-AC. I've just had a look at a 6 cylinder compressor on ebay that has that code.

I rang FTG wreckers today to enquire about this compressor and they say they only have one single listing for the AUs. I'm not so sure and would like to be 100% sure before I outlay all the money to have one sent up here

You're probably right about the code being a D - I was looking at it installed in the car, with the head tilted just so.

The compressors on my 6 and 8 look the same - I could only think that one os an update (more efficient?), and that only the pulley wheel thingy would differ, possibly, between the 6 and the 8.

Try Ford Spares in Fyshwick - they should be able to give you a part number for an XR8. They use the full ford database. Then again, John McGrath should also be able to give you the part number.

AU Parts data base only lists one. I searched using the part number, the word "compressor", and part of the part numbers. This is what came back:

Part # Description Unit Price
1F1Z 19E889 AA RING - SEALING, FOR COMPRESSOR MANIFOLD PORTS, GREEN $6.60
F7AZ 19589 DA OIL A/C COMPRESSOR, POLYALKALINE GLYCOL OIL, SPEC: WSH-M1C231-B $53.00
RMER 19D629 A COMPRESSOR AND CLUTCH ASSY, ALL $448.00

Prices are Trade, and a few years old, so should be used as a guide only.

Thanks JC, I did see that one listed but wasn't 100% sure whether it was the correct item!

Spoke to John McGrath and apparently the compressors are the same on the I6s and V8s which kinda surprised me. They have a reco one for $580, but I've managed to pick up a low-km second hand one for $175 delivered.

Thanks for the assistance

Default air con compressor

hi all, it:
I was just gouing through some of these threads for a prob that I have with my AU and came upon this one.
I had the same prob with my car and ended up getting a compressor from the wreckers but it was out of a BA. it cost me $200 up here in Brissy, but when I went to get the air con regased the guy who I took it to told me he could have done a new one for me at just about the same price.

hope this helps. :1syellow1
