Hi Guys
What sort of fuel consumption do the small fords have? Roughly how much are you spending on filling the tank and a rough estimate of ks you get out of it? Thanks Kindly

Fiesta WP Auto 30000kms. I get anywhere between 350 - 450kms to a tank (38L). I would spend about 50 bucks per week. But all depends on ur driving style.
What does your BA Xr8 consumption like. im just curious. Cheers Damo

Hi Damo
The ute is currently sitting on 13.1 per 100ks, but in saying that, I live in a rural area and dont have any traffic. I have a few give way signs on the way to work and thats it, so its gets an easy run! Its a 2003 manual, costs me about $95 to fill up and I generally get anywhere from 500-600ks out of a tank (roughly) I've been surprised with it, as the ute before this one was a six cylinder 2000 model, and it doesnt really go through that much more fuel considering its a 5.4 litre V8. I've read the stats for the Fiestas, but I find its easier to get a real indication by asking people that own them

Depends on your driving style. The little bugger loved to rev. I was getting about 350kms, sometimes more a tank.
However, That was innercity driving. I rarely go beyond Drummoyne, Canterbury and the eastern suburbs, so the car was always in stop-start driving. As soon as I began getting less traffic lights, and more highway driving, the Ks/tank increase dramatically

Oh yes, understand its all comes down to driving style, just getting some rough estimates. I dread to think what mine would climb to with inner city driving!!!!
Now and then mine gets a work out, and it goes up, I think the highests I've seen it was at about 15l/per 100ks for a few days there. It had a good go last weekend and it went up to about 13.3 while it was being driven, but by the time I got it home again (3 hours away) it had dropped back. Teki04 "the little bugger loved to rev" sometimes my car is the same and it just wants to go

Not really Damo, although there is more I would like to do to the ute and because I do about 600ks a week I sometimes think I should get a small everyday car, and stop running ks up on the ute.
I really like the fiestas, they just look a solid small car. They dont have that tinny look a lot of the hatches have, they have a certain style about them, and of course, they are a ford lol.

About the same here, between 500 - 550Kms/45L tank, with a mix of highway and city driving; a little over 8 litres for a 100 kays. I flex the right foot a fair bit, but have it in 5th around town (at 60). I think if I went easy on it I'd see high sixes or sevens. $1.35ish premium x 45L = $60.75 to fill 'er up from dry.
WQ Fiesta Zetec manual, no mods, 1350kms. |

Wow goop your premium is cheap!!! I'm up to $1.56 for premium, and sorry figures I quoted before were for premium also.
I dont know what normal unleaded is here at the moment, but somewhere in the $1.40s I think. I fueled up on Friday and mine was $1.56 per litre. The fiestas have quite a good fuel consumption then, out here I could probably expect to get it down to the around 7 that they quote. (lack of traffic, easy driving etc)

i heard that our ones (WP) have a 35 ltr tank, not sure if thats correct, could be 38, i seem to get numbers that are close mixed up and when i dont listen to the dealer blab obviously no info there. but its in the 30's im sure. ohh and lush i do the same sort of driving as you do, similar, pretty good economy, efficient car, gusty (obviously not as gutsy as ur car, but more than you would expect from a small car), also comfotable. and fun to drive.

Teki,
Yes it does love to rev i think thats half the problem with the fuel consumption. I have become a little less protective of my car. i used to baby it everywhere. Now i enjoy it, im learning to really throw it through corners and im learning to use its limited power in the best way possible. All in all, when driven correctly.. and once you know the car, it can be quite a potent little weapon. As the Vtec CRX found out, as a 3.5L magna found out, as a turbo 2.2 mx6 found out, as a Eunos 30X found out, as a clubsport found out through twisties, as a SS found out through twisties, as a friends modified wrx found out through twisties. Drive it right, and its a whole bag load of fun, who gives a dogs about the fuel.

Your both wrong. The Fiesta has a 45L tank. I know this because my Clio a 5L bigger tank and gets the same range.
I've managed to get 39.4L in the Fiesta before selling it... And yes Mitch, it does drive really well once you've learnt to use the car : Add a Citroen C4 VTS and Renault Clio Sport 172 to that list Mitch! However, it didn't beat them, but kept up. They sure were surprised when they found out the Fiesta doesn't feature ESP considering the road to Wollombi was extremely wet and hazardous

so long as you service it correctly longevity won't be a problem. Teki if i remember correctly tyre rotations didn't help the longevity of your first set of rubber on the fez
ESP will slow you down through twisties providing your a good driver

My last tank got me 8.34L/100km (Optimax).
My best ever to date has been 6.06L/100km (that was on Optimax Extreme). My worst ever to date has been 10.29L/100km (Caltex Vortex, but that was more due to a session of idling with the a/c on I did then anything else). Current tank (Vortex 98) is almost out, expecting in the 8.3-8.4L range again. This is all combined average by the way.

I stopped keeping track of consumption, but last I looked I'd typically get up to 450kms from a tank in city driving and just over 500km if I did a trip to Mt Gambier or something.

Steffo, does Optimax Extreme gives your car much improvement performance-wise? I filled up with Optimax Extreme basically the 2nd time I filled up so couldnt really tell the difference between Vortex98 and Optimax Extreme. |

The car wouldn't start first go. You'd have to crank it over and give it some accelerator and it would barley cough on, then idle all rough and funny for a minute before settling down. It didn't rev out as happily as it was before either. Put me off it completley, though the fuel economy came as a bit of a shock. My favourite fuel to use is Mobil 8000. Get's damn good economy and performs the best with it, bar none.

Thanks for all the replies so far guys, its been great.
Cant help re fuel, I use premium, but only get one choice as there is only one servo int own so I usually just use it unless I happen to be in 'town' town over at Orange or Cowra, where there is more selection.
