My XB has a radio delete panel. Who needs a stereo when you have a stout Clevo!

Hi mate

I have the premium audio option in my BA and its ok. Better than the standard system. I dont know much about it to be honest, ie the specs. Perhaps someone else with the same can fill us in on that stuff...

By the way, wot = what. Also, its stereos, not stereo's... plurals do not contain apostrophes. Sorry, thats just a pet hate of mine! Hehe. :P

Cheers mate,

Jac

Yep, very true. And I admit to leaving out all of those all the time when I type on here. However, leaving something out on purpose, to me, is a little different actually inserting something which doesnt belong... why would you put an apostrophe in for a plural? Laziness on the net I can understand, but deliberate errors are different.

But yeah, you are right, perhaps I should insert my apostrophes too.

Back on topic though... does anyone have the specs for the BA premium audio though? Seriously I have been curious about this for a while because my ex is really into car stereos etc and he keeps asking me and I have no idea... LOL. I just know it has a subbie on the back parcel shelf and that there is a bunch of speakers around the place... hahaha.

Factory 250W Premium sound in my EL Ghia.

Specs;
Double DIN headunit
Alpine 6 stacker
Alpine Amp
9 speakers including subwoofer

I replaced the front splits with JVC items because the factory ones were worn out. It doesn't sound too bad I guess.

Cool. Yeah its nothing spectacular I guess, compared to some really good systems out there, but its heaps better than the standard one, and better than AU standard as well...

Wouldnt mind upgrading one day!

Edit: oops I didnt see that you said EL ghia... Im still wondering about the BA one then... LOL

Can't remember the model names, but I have...

Eclipse Head Unit
Focal 6.5 Splits (Absolutely love the sweet sound)
Eclipse 6" Rears
Alpine Mono Sub
Alpine 4 Channel Amp
Alpine Type S Sub

The Sub lets the whole package down, but I do mean to get it replaced soon

Same..kinda minus the amp, mine is still stock...lol

I dont want to change the HU either because nothing out there suits the dash, plus there is teh double DIN issue. So its staying stock. I might buy some better speakers but only if the factory ones die.

For a stock system the EL Ghia one is pretty good IMO.

Im sooooo over audio, waste of space and money. As long as it plays what I want I am happy. The only thing I would change is perhaps MP3 compatibility. My VDO/Dayton HU is now in the GF's barina.

I've got a Clarion CD/MP3 player (I had enough of the old tape deck) and I have 180W 6" Clarion 3-way rear speakers. Certainly isn't the best sound system out there, but for $400 it wasn't too bad. Next I'm going to replace the front speakers, as they are crap, and can't compete with the rear speakers.

BA Falcon...

Factory Head unit, , through soundstream Line convertor..

Fronts, , , Infinity Reference 6" Splits.
Rear , , , , Infinity Kappa 6x9
Sub , , , MTX Thunder 6000 10" In bandpass....ported box..

MTX Thunder Pro 4 Channel running Speakers.
Lightning Audio Bolt Mono Amp running Sub...

Sounds Excellent off the factory unit. We hooked up a pioneer DEHP4850 to the amps to see how much better it would sound, , and it sounded a "bit" better, , but not worth having the extra unit installed in the tissue box.

The bandpass tube comes through the shelf, , right in the middle of the back shelf, , I covered it with a 4" grille painted the same colour as the trim.

Excellent sound from a system you cannot see !

Mmm some Eclipse head units I was going to get one myself but didn't like the lack of detachable face. I settled for an Alpine 9835. Sweet unit....

One day I'll have the rest of the equipment match the quality of the head unit :P
