Ergh if you just bought a 2006 Holden of some description, im sure you could afford a newspaper advertisement.

Seems like a scam to me!

Good point, just in case it does not last long here is what it says:-

Quote:
Donations needed to post a full page newspaper advertisment on why:
- YOU SHOULD NEVER BUY A HOLDEN -

I recently purchased a new (2006) Holden and have had never ending problems with the vehicle.
I have taken the Holden in for repairs in about 6 times in as many months and will be returning for more repairs in the coming week. As the car is under warranty, holden merely attempts to fix the issues (seemingly unconcerned that a brand new car presents so many problems). I believe that purchasing a brand new vehicle should mean that you are able to drive away in confidence and not have to waste time, patience and money on a frequent basis in order to get a "new car". I have owned a few older cars in the past and never had to take them in for fixing as much as this "new" car.

My intention with this ebay advertisment is to gain funds to post a full page advertisment in a well read newspaper (Herald) letting people know or reasons why they should NEVER buy a Holden!
I would also like to invite people who have horror stories about their brand new Holden to submit their story for inclusion in the newspapers full page advertisment.

So if you would like to contribute to this campaign, please "buy" one or more $5 donations. The money will be collected for payment of the advertisment.
Please note that you will not be purchasing a product, you will however be contributing towards a campaign with the intention of informing consumers of real problems experienced with the purchase of a Holden. This advertisment could be listed numerous times in order to achieve its objective. .

i can see his point about new cars, but still.
i dont think anyone with half a brain would put money towards something like that.
is there any legal rebound if you contribute and he doesnt do a newspaper spread?
also, correct me if im wrong but a whole page in a newspaper will cost you around $10000+ not $250.

Seems a bit odd... have to agree with others that a full page ad would cost way more than he is trying to get.. unless the fact is that when people do a bid it doesn't remove how many gone..
So in that light he may well make a tonne of cash....

That would be if anyone was stupid enough to believe him in the first place...

He doesn't say what the car actually is... which I would think is the first thing you would do... He doesn't show a pic of the lemon which is the second thing you might do...

Hopefully no-one is sucked in by this.. but there are those that are gullible..

Yeah they sell air guitars on e bay and people actually buy them(even saw an air drum kit once) . So someone will buy this for shure. I wonder if people realy pay for stuff like this when it is so clearly a scam or if they just bid for the fun of it.

Holden wouldn't know about it, It would be someone who passes through and spotted it, Maybe some of the guys from JustCommodores did it. It's a scam anyway.

ive got a close mate who wants to do same thing with his 7 month old XR6 Ford, loves his GT's and will get one again but says he will never buy a new Ford again,
thats what happens when you have a bad service dept dealing with a bad car i suppose.gets people very angry when every road trip car has to go and have problems fixed such as cruise control (fuses 8 times) whole unit twice, different colour paint on bumpers, overspray over all door rubbers on left side,Ford refusing point blank to honor anymore problems with his brand new car with a few years warranty.so he gave up and sold it back to them last week, agreed 8 days earlier to $28000, then would only give him $26000 as he did not take up there offer same few days it was made, being a ford man all his life as was his dad,
this is not a go at Fords,id love to have a new typhoon or XR6 turbo ,i even said to him it was just one of those cars built on a Friday or Monday and told him to swap for another but his treaqtment at hands of dealer principal left dirty taste in his mouth, treated him like a fool
