Default What The????

As I was driving through the City of Launceston Tasmania today I happened to see one hell of a strange site.

I saw parked on the side of the road a current model Toyota Corolla S/wagon as a Taxi. No joke, i thought my eyes were playing tricks so i turned around and went back for a second look. Surely enough there it was..............

I mean sure the fuel prices are an issue to cabbies but what about durability etc. And what about the milage, i just cant see a 4cyl Corolla doing 500 000 - 800 000km's.

Has anyone else seen similar???

i got nothing on taxi's but one sight that struck me the other day was a new mini being used as a 'learning to drive' car.
i think thats really all they are good for, but thats an expensive car to be handing keys to learnatics.

Plenty of Toyota's have seen 500,000+ kms. In the NT they use Avalons and they've been faultless.

With the difference in purchase price between the Toyota and an Aussie six, why not? Even if it doesn't last as long, surely the total savings must make it worthwhile.

Corollas can last a long time. You'd be surprised.

What a joke

All the taxi's in Peru are Corolla wagons, and everyone I've been in was 400,000 + kms and still going strong.
