heres the brief:
cant be any older than 1998.
has to be Australian delivered or australian built.
cant be any more than $15000.
should have a few luxury features.
needs to have some decent power.
should be a V8 but will consider less if its a ball tearer.
would like manual, but again if its auto itll do.

was looking at a Lexus SC400 but im not allowed to buy an import :yeees: so i would like something just as good that has some get up and go as well.

dude a hint dont mention a lexus on a ford site (lexus = toyota with different badge)

and if i where you i would go past 1998 lowest though 1990 you can get some sick old cars that will kill alot of other things.

(xy gt ho, fastest 4 door sedan in the world)

How about a 1998 NL FBT??

Its a 98 model, aussie built, V8 luxury sports sedan... You wont find one in a manual, but if you are lucky you should get one for around $15,000...

well if you were me youd know that it cant be any older than 1998. i wrote that for a REASON. the finance company is the one making the rules here, not me.
and where does an XY GTHO fit into anything that i have asked for? $15000 ISNT $250000.

Back to the topic.......

If you are after a locally made or delivered car preferably with a v8, then you are manily left with Ford(Aus) Ford(USA) or GM. Do you have any problems with any GM cars or would you prefer a Ford?

Monkey Boy you might want to take your brain out of Neutral before posting in future aswell.

To state the obvious, you could always become an E-Series mutant... plenty of 5L EL Fairmonts / Fairlanes in that price bracket... nice bit of gear they are too.

Maybe even get yourself a DL LTD? That failing you could resort to buying an AU... :P

I'd say you could get a post 98 BMW for that price fairly easily, but I don't know much about BMs so I will avoid encouraging you to do this.

What about a Range Rover? A nice Vogue V8?

I agree with the NL FBT call! Its rare, so it shouldn't depreciate and it will go like stink.

The last of the e series, EL/NL/DL are very very good buys for those who cant warm to the AU look. I seriously dont think there is another car out there that can compete on a $$ per value scale. AU comes a close second if you can live with it.

You could get a MINT NL/EL/DL for under $10k and then mod it, if thats your thing.

I agree with this, but if you can afford to go to 15K then why not get something newer/better.

And as far as the AU look thing goes, after you buy one they grow on you. A lowered series II/III or even a series I Fairmont doesn't have any issues in that department anyway. It was always just a media beat-up.

And it doesn't matter what EL/NL/DL you buy, it won't have IRS. Having owned both EL and AU, I can tell you it makes a difference for a daily driver.

Well Ive driven BA's and BF's, not AU's with IRS. It is alot better obviously

As for the styling thing, I agree, Im actually an AU fan, I was just assuming he wasn't as thats generally the case.

When I brought my EL Ghia, I drove a few AUII's, they were fortes, and while yeah its a newer car, it didn't have the things I wanted; the EL looks hot and has all the bells and whistles.

If I could have stretched the budget a bit more I could have got an AUII Ghia, but alas it was just out of the price range.

But I dont regret getting the EL one bit over a base AUII.

I'd try to go for a TL50, even a AU Fairlane/LTD. BA Fairmont could be has as well possibly.

I like the Lexus idea, what makes you not allowed to get one?

I would of also suggested a BMW 750IL or even a 540 but that breaks the 1998 rule.

it can be UPTO 15k...could even be 10k for all i care really.

02-3 Ralliart Magna or 02-3 Magna VRX/Magna Sports (vrx minus bodykit) - the features list in those cars for their bang/quality buck is awesome on the second hand car market 180kw/3.5L or 163kw/3.5L - plus they will have circa 45-75000km on the odo

Ignoring the fwd factor, VRX in manual form can do 0-100 in 7sec flat which would give some of the old 5.0Ls a run for their money.

If fwd is the issue then the Sports AWD is the answer - 03 model, 45-75odo /159kw around about 15-16k.
