Hey everyone, These are the cars i got from you all and a few extras i found out about. Sorry if I have missed a few it is very late lol. Please vote and feel free to comment on why you chose that car. Try not to be one sided and vote by which car has the best package for the price. Cheers

There are Corolla's then there is the Corolla Sportivo which is a very different kind of Corolla.

It has more power than any of the cars in your list...

141kw Close Ratio 6 speed manual nothing it that list even comes close.

Dude WTF are you smoking? Your not gonna get 150KW from the Fez without major major work or a turbo. Stop blowing ****.

I do agree that the Ford Fiesta Zetec would be my choice. Bit underpowered but feels great at low revs and handles like a champion.

Since when is a engine transplant not major work? Pretty much as extreme as they go.

What do you mean by Bang for Your Bucks - just performance? or a combination of performance, features and resale ect?

Oh and they dont sell the Sportivo anymore and even when they did it was slow by hot hatch standards as it had no torque and had to be constantly red-lined to get anywhere - just about every motor reviewer rubbished it, I tested one when it came out, it was fun for about 3 seconds of the rev-range but yeah not practical or assessable perforamnce in anyway.

Ok then... I withdraw my Sportivo comments

There is nothing in that list I would consider as a decent bang for your bucks car. All boring shopping cars...

A more interesting discussion would be...

I have $25k to spend what would be a good small performance car that wont cost a bomb to insure...?

Heard all those arguements before. Yes a number of reviews rubbished and a lot liked it...

Slow well thats very subjective with a driver who doesnt know what they are doing yup slow and sluggish. Somebody who knows what they are doing its a quick little car. Its car that requires talent to get the best from it. Not just a big right foot like many cars.

I have seen many WTF!!! faces in my rearview mirror...

Mine well its for sale because I am going for the big right foot type of car.

bang for your buck includes what you get for the price...looks, speed, acceleration, power, handling, brakes, sound, fuel economy, safety, option features, ride, comfort, wheels all of that and more in a car less then 25 grand

Corolla is really only good in terms of resale, and maybe reliability. In terms of everything else its probably the worst of the lot. (its a generation behind everything on that list)

Well then I don't think you can go past the Mazda 3 when you take that all into account. Would be the fastest in that list, has good features, handling, resale ect.

Also I really like the new Civic, you should check that out.

I beat a Sportivo w/exhaust in in-gear acceleration on the freeway... in my Fiesta Zetec. 74kW 146Nm vs 141kW 180Nm? :hihi:

I let plenty of wnakers beat me, just not worth the effort in many cases.

A Fiesta Zetec cant even keep up with a Barina SRi...

That's funny. Except I wasn't being the ****er. If you knew me you'd know how I drive... bang on the speed limit in the left lane 99% of the time. He was doing the ****ing... tailgating me, flashing lights (those xenons he had on the thing were damn bright) and such. And that car sounded like it was gonna explode when he revved it off its tit to pass me.... only just... after I decided 110 in a 90 was enough for me.

Oh and with a claimed 0-100km/h time of 8.4 seconds and beasty 1/4 mile times in the 16.2 - 16.5 sec region (as found by googling Corolla Sportivo owner's forums and posts and such) I wouldn't boast too hard. Its *barely* faster then a Fez Zetec 0-100km/h and almost dead even 1/4 mile. And slower then an LS Focus. Or Golf 2.0 FSI. Or Mazda 3 2.0. All of which have almost 40kW LESS power. And some of them (Golf for example) weigh more. :

I'd have to say the fiesta (because i owned one just before i bought the XR and was damn good on fuel)

But the Polo 1.9 diesel is an amazing car to drive very comfortable too in comparison with the fiesta
