240Kw not bad but FWD why... AWD and this car could have been half alright.

It looks very good, why the 'audi-VW grill'
if the levels of are equipment are good hopefully like the Toyota quallity, this will most likely make a noticeable dent in the sales ford and GM sport models. FWD isn't a sales killer as it was a few years ago, most people dont care (or know the difference). |

It had my attention until I read ''It retains front-wheel drive''
That said Toyota make a good quality car and suspect the 1500 will be sold every year without too much trouble. Be a good upgrade for a ricer owner.

I like the look although 240kw is somewhat lacking in this era of 260kw and beyond... I'd prefer a VE SS or XR6T

Front looks good, back looks like riced-up camry
Would no doubt be a high quality car, but most sportscar enthusiasts would be put off by FWD |

My car only has 168kw and it's still goes heaps hard for a stock vehicle. FWD? If this was RWD I reckon it would make a few consider it as an alternative to other cars. I believed I bagged it before but that pic does present it as nice car. |

Depends how its setup. Youd be surprised how little modern FWD suffer from torque steer.
Not all cars torque steer to the left.

"TRD" - Just leaps out at you with an extra "U"! What board passed that acronym!!!!! :
Actually looks pretty good I reckon but they really need to give up on the FWD thing if they are truly looking to get serious about performance. All fine in a small hatchback but not in a big saloon. :

Be interesting to see if all Toyota's technology and engineering expertise can make this thing quicker than the Aussie's around a good circuit like phillip island

Looks hot - you can really tell the guy who designed the BA XR's designed it from the striking similarities. Nick Hogias wasn't it?
240kw and FWD I can't see mixing very well though. I'm all for front wheel drive hot hatches but 240kw is way out there (IMO about 150kw is the max for a decent FWD steerer, the Mazda 3 MPS relies too much on restriting power). However I would wait to see the straight line performance tests and lap times from independent mags first before outright bagging it.

It's all about the power to weight ratio and weight distribution. Do you think Toyota would invest the money on the FWD car to rival the likes of the XR6 turbo if they didn't think it would work?
Especially seeing the Kluger has the same under pinnings as the Camry and the Aurion (so I'm told) which is constant AWD...

theres a bit of difference between 190kw & 240kw, and add to that a larger heavier body for the camry compared to the 3, it is going to have torque steer.

The front of the car looks ok, but as always, the back looks terrible, conservative and traditionally Toyata Camry-ish.
FWD doesn't interest me a bit. It really doesn't. Toyota need to create a car that is holistically up-to-date. The rears of their cars always seem to be squarish. Square-backed cars have been kinda poo-pooey since the AU and VT. |

It will go...and no doubt the Toyota engineers have tricks up their sleeves to minimise the downside of FWD. Plus the advertising money Toyota have (surely they could wipe out third-world debt!) will mean it gets airtime a plenty.

Looks pretty good actually.
As for torque steer, modern FWD's are not that bad, I think alot of people have been burnt by 80's FWDer's...lol It might have a little, but from what Ive been told torque steer was more of an issue with cars that had unequal axles (driveshafts?)...something like that anyway. Either way its still going to have FWD understeer, that would annoy me more than torque steer.

All this bullshit about FWD is really boring actually, get out and drive the new Aurion and experience the lack of torque steer yourself.
That is ALL I can say about the Aurion, drive it and THEN make your decision. This TRD car IS AWESOME, and its just unfortunate that my dealership wont be getting them

Well for those people who like to hang out in a Maccas car park with trays underneth there rear wheels the TRD is going to be right up there alley.
Blackout, you obviously work with Toyota, but show me one large size car that is FWD and is fun to drive? The Aurion is falcon and commy size, not mondeo.
