Default Cluster question

i just bought an au1 fairmont cluster for my au1 forte. now with the little car on the lcd screen will that show which door is open or will it show all off them open? Also i want to put blue LED's in it. Does anyone know what the code is so i can order them. i cant tell which one they are on the narva website and has anyone put an fairmont dash in a forte?

it should show which door/s open. u may find though that a few things wont work. i had this problem when i owned an xd and tried fitting an s-pac dash to it, a lot of it didnt work/mate up. perhaps times have changed and ford have a lot of the same wiring in the base models up to the luxury models, then again...pigs might fly. good luck with it.

will it still show DTE because in the fairmont it shows DTE on the big LCD screen in the middle of the car?

dte should still work, but as i said before, there maybe a problem with how it all mates up. fingers crossed for u. do u have both out and in front of u atm? if so it is a good idea to sit in the car and check that all the plugs will fit and are the correct ones for the area. also a good time now to pull out the bulbs to replace with blue ones as u will them have the correct size. take an example to repco or similar car store and see if they cannt fit u up with the number required.

The fiarmonts have individual wires to show doors open - Forte has one wire.

DTE won't work, as it's not included on the Fiarmont cluster, BUT you will know what gear you are in (maybe).

Oil pressure is a gauge on the Fairmont cluster, but a light on the Forte, so you will need to change the sender unit in the motor (underneath the thermostat housing).

There's an article on fordmods that shows what you need to do when upgrading clusters. It's probably much the same as an XD GL to S pac upgrade!

Yes I have follow the article in fordmods like JC suggested
I did mine by getting hold of some plugs and making an adaptor loom as per the pic
Go the fordmods way is far easier

You have to make the adaptor to much mucking around. I did it before I discovered these forums & fordmods.
Have you checked out fordmods.com for the instructions?

Sounds like an earthing issue have you checked all the pins you relocated have seated properly and are not pushing back out
Is a yellow/red wire in pin 3 thats the low coolant wire?

Does the AU1 forte have the coolant sensor in the reservoir?
You can tell by the wires hanging out the side of the reservoir.
It may be that you will have to upgrade the reservoir, costs about $100

Do you want the low level indication?
If you do you upgrade the resevoir but check that there is a plug/socket near your brake master cylinder to plug it into first (there should be).
Otherwise wait for me to check resistance needed to trick the the cluster into thinking the resevoir is at the correct level and get back to you.

The old cluster obviously worked ok; does your light switch have a dimmer on it? If not that could be the reason. Does anybody else have any thoughts?
When you say turned off do you mean dimmed have you checked at night because as far as I Know the LCD part should be brighter in day time so you can see it but dim when you turn headlights on so as not to be over powering at night.
