And there are more codes I found .. and tables of codes.
kinda confusing for different models as well.

The above codes are ENGINE CODES though ... but there are model and body codes as well that in the actual engine number.

Will try to give examples.

Body Types:

SW = Sedan/Short wheelbase (as mentioned above)
WA = Wagon
LW = Long wheelbase/Fairlane/LTD
CM = Utes/Commercial

Here's a quick run down on the VIN/engine number though

6FPAAAJGSWRB 12345

6FP = Ford Australia
AAA = Not used
J = Product Source Code (country of Origin)
G = Assembly Plant (G=Broadmeadows)
SW = Body Style Code (Short wheelbase=Sedan)
R = Year of Production (????)
B = Month of Production (????)

12345 = Serial number

Then there are model codes as well.

But what I found funny is there is Paint code 44 (Victorian Taxi Yellow) ... never knew there was a factory Ford colour for taxis.

You learn something new everyday I guess.

SW: short wheel base
WA: wagon
LW: long wheel base
CM: utility

there is a paint code for taxi yellow because of the Taxi pack aviable in the AU's.
