Default Does this sound good?

Some of you guys may remember the trouble I had with finding a job last year and my brief time as a labourer.

Well I just enrolled at TAFE and I'm going to be doing my HSC (Year 12) aswell as doing a trade, in Machining & Fitting. (It takes 1 year)

I do 3 days of HSC and 2 days of the Trade.

They said that I'll be doing as much as what a first year apprentice does at TAFE, so if I do get an apprenticeship, I'll be on the 2nd year without even going off the campus. (Besides the 2 weeks work placement in June-July)

What do you guys think? Also has anyone done something like this before?

EDIT: Sorry I didn't realise this was in here. Please put it in the bar.

Sounds great!

Never heard of it before but it's a great idea.
Start your trade and finish senior schooling; killing two birds with one stone.
Also I believe the the employment rate after finishing a trade course at TAFE (pre voc ect) is VERY high.

Good luck with it.

Our local high school is a "Technology High School" (one of the first in the state I think), in years 11 & 12 students have the option of doing a tech course at the same time , my daughters b/friend did an electrical course , left after year 12 & started with an electrical business in town as a "3rd year" apprentice , only 2 years of tech to go .

Great idea I think .

Well since I made this thread, I am 3 weeks away from completing my HSC and Trade course.

It's been a blast, with some ups and downs, but I have benefited from it.

I recommend anyone who wants to do their HSC next year at Tafe, try this aswell. I think most states have this now, but I'm not sure.

I am sure that in Victoria, people can complete their VCE (HSC equivalent) at TAFE. I know somebody who went back to finish their year 12 last year.

It gives a lot more opportunities as many courses require a Year 12 minimum to be eligible for enrolment. Even if you get less than 30 as your ENTER (or equivalent), doors are still open.
