Why are these so much more expensive in the west? So my absolute max for the car is $20000.
I have found three so far. All autos. 1. White, 80000kms, no books/history, has been resprayed at rear, first thing dealer said was 'not bad, but not the best too', seemed to be prepared to begin the bargaining at $16000, started the car but noisey belt, running rough... seems to have had a tough life. 2. Red, 65000kms, showroom condition, $25000. 3. Black, owned by a friend of a friend, books & history, 110000kms but country driving, leather, $20000 but negotiable, will be fully detailed before sale, first one I've driven and it feels good. Are these prices high or is it just me? Cheers

Anywhere between $15 to 20k is a reasonable price for a late AU2, AU3 XR8 (ie the 220 jobbie). Your other option is to find one out east, have a forum member check it over for you (test drive & report should do), then fly over and drive it back. It would need to be aorund $3k cheaper for this to be worthwhile - hence why prices in the west are a tad higher, I guess.

The rebel body kit came out in au2 xr8s with rebal decals at the end of the run, also had 220kw engine so late au2 or au3 would be a good bye. My dad ownes a au2 rebal lowered on king springs and a flash tuned ecu with personel tune and it drives great.

I'd bargain it down 1 maybe 2k. FYI the bodykit was standard on the AUIII XR's so original owners had the choice of the Tickford or the Rebel style.

Considered this one, mate?
The AUIII kicked off in late 2001, so it's possible this is one... it DOES appear to have a bodykit which is a potential clue... low km's and leather interior, too http://www.autotrader.com.au/iteminf...ubs_Used+Cars_ |

Don't worry about the auto transmission, they get up go just as good. The black one looks good, plus you know the car histroy.

Heehee, yeah, I know... I mean it sounds nice though... if there was some real room to move in the price, it could still be pretty nice. But I know what you mean.
