Well guys the drama of the Ps2is continuing ...........
The youngest has decided from the replies we gained about the fall of his machine that we will open the thing & have a look to see if there is anything seemingly amiss .... He has the screws out of it but cant seem to open the unit ...... I wont let him force it too much .......... For all you who are in the know .......... is there an easy way of doing this ?????? |

is it a big or a small PS2? If it's a bit one, there is screws under the rubber feet too...dunno bout the small ones...

It's the small one, so the top and bottom casings will have probably have a few lugs and catches to hold it together.

Probably better if you don't get it open, there isn't much in there that could be easily fixed without replacement parts if the fall did break anything inside it.
That, and there are some bits inside that can be a real PITA if anything happens to them - if you're thinking to yourself "That sounds like the voice of experience", you'd be right :(

if its the slim ps2 then....
- Remove the 6 screw covers and the 6 screws located underneath them. - Then carefully seperate the PS2 top cover from the bottom half of the console. However if it's less than a year old, i'd be giving sony a call asap.

Will also have the warranty sticker holding it together.
Took mine apart last week. Needs a new power supply. It is commonly just a fuse, pretty easy to replace. As said, remove the rubber grommets/plugs to find more screws. Take care when pulling it apart as there is a data cables in there that can be ripped out.

just send it away to get fixed, its mostly solid construction and like someone said with out specific replacement parts its basically buy a new one

The boy took off the warrenty sticker before it was broken ...... gotta love ADHD kids who are inquisitive :P
So warrenty isnt a problem anymore ................... hes just found the other screws ....... I will open this thing myself so the data cables arnt dislodged .......... |
