If you don't have any problems with your car... don't worry about it... if it drives smoothly, not chuging, and not clunking gears, and not making any funny noises anywhere, you should be right... Things will go wrong with your car that you will have to pay out for... in time....

for peace of mind take out extended warrenty. If you never need to use it, then good, but if you have a warrenty fsult you wont be sorry from a cost point of view

All I can say is get the extended warranty.
My XR6 T was out of warranty in Feb last year. Car had about 40ks on it. $1100 for Extended warranty. The service guy said "it's a waste of money." In the last 12 mths have had both side airbags replaced, (approx cost ??) radiator tanks replaced, water pump o ring replaced, turbo return pipe had a leak in it. Approx cost $700 in parts and labour. Then the mixer shaft in the air conditioner broke. Days labour to pull the dash apart and replace a part that costs bugger all. Would think that cost about $360 (6 hours @ $60hour + part cost.) As luck would have it the diff is making a nice noise, and the damn airbag light is staying on again. 2 years of warranty left and its just ticked over 50k's. Lucky I like to waste money. |

Tell you what, contact Tynan motors for an extended warranty. Where Ford tend to limit the amount payable on a claim, these guys will repair up to the value of the vehicle. I recently had the warranty extended on an MB140, cost $1600.00 and covers the car for virtually everything and runs up until 200,000klm.
Furthermore, the insurance company which Ford use for their extended warranty is pretty hard to deal with, they don't have to give a response to a claim on the same day. Anyway, I will be extending warranty through these guys in the future; they just have to sight your car to make sure it looks ok, and has the correct mileage. Get a quote at least on 02 9545 8888

On a previous car, I took it to the RAC and paid to get them to do a full inspection.
They picked up a few minor faults that the dealer had to fix under warranty.

My BA had several of the 'usual' problems during its warranty, but my BF is still faultless about a year after purchase. They were both bought new, and a year in the BA had spend weeks at the Ford dealer in comparison.
