Since there's the "Nintendo Wii" thread, I thought I'd make a "Playstation 3" thread.

So... who's already got one on order?

Stupid idea to order something at what... $999? when it'll just drop in price after a few months.

I don't even like the Playstations anyway.

I love my PS2, but wont be buying a PS3 until bugs are ironed out and the price drops. I have paid top price for my PS1 & PS2, not agian, not really worth it, PS2 is still pretty good and new games are getting made all the time at the moment. PS3 will be nice later on though, BluRay movie player inbuild as well.

I'll wait a few months for one.
I made the mistake of pre-ordering my PS2 and within a few months it was $300 cheaper.

But i will get one, mainly for the Blu-Ray DVD player.

Yeah, I wont get it first day out. I'll buy the console when they release Gran Turismo 5 (not Gran Turismo HD) or something.

About the blu-ray DVD player, yes the PS3 would be cheaper but dont yous think bona-fide blu-ray DVD players would be better than the one in PS3?

A new disc format. Capable of holding alot of data (Something like 50GB?) hence being able to fit more on a disc, resulting in higher quality movies/games.

If I were going to buy one I'd wait too, some guys are funny. They go into their local video game stores with all the other, ah "Game gurus" *cough*nerds*cough* and get there special little console at 12:01am.

Yupe, I'm an Xbox man too. GT4 has decent graphics but driving those cars sucks.
They can't do stand stills and burnouts? Obviously the boys in the land of the rising sun don't know what smoke is. You can even double clutch Forza cars.

Im big on games and would have got my 360 at 12:01am if they where open. Instead I got mine as soon as could in the morning. But im far from being a nerd. Im a tradie. When do you ever see nerd tradies? Never thats when.

I would prefer to get a pc. PC gaming kicks the living pooey bottom out of consoles.
On a pc, you can play old pc games, emulated games of most systems, listen to music...and a host of other stuff.

Consoles IMO are moving towards PCs in terms of versatility, but still, they're pretenders.

No, pc gaming for me.

I like old consoles though because games made for the old consoles were unique and many could not be bought for the pc. Now however, the great consoles games are on pc, with the exception of Gran Turismo and a few others. Compare GTA on PS2 to PC. On PS2 it is terrible. Looks about 5 years outdated, poor response etc. On PC, it's great.

Ill be getting a PS3, but Ill probably wait until xmas or something like that, like others, been burnt buying too early, $750 for a PS1?....

PC`s have their place - first person shooters. You need the mouse and the keyboard (for the dozen or so quick-key commands) setup on a desk.

True, also for games like Command and Conquer etc.

But I can play first persons just aswell on my PS2 that I can on PC. Actually im a fair way through Call of Duty 3 at the moment.

All of the PS1 and PS2 games will run on the PS3. Besides, with projectors, you could easily put more than 4 people on the same screen in a 1st person shooter).

BTW, I have a 360 console and a Wii console at the moment, and hopefully later on will get a PS3 console.

No, it plays well over 200 titles, and more.

As does the PS3. The previous Playstations used a RISC/Emotion processor, whilst the new PS3 utilises an IBM processor. Backward compatibility relies on emulation. It's not big deal, just thought I'd let you know.

Actually it supports 7 controllers. And im not sure how many people would have 7 people playing at the same time.

I like the fact that with the 360 you dont have to spend alot of money. Depending on what you want it can cost as little as $400. You can have wired or wireless, HDD or no HDD, HD DVD player or no HD DVD player.

But the best thing about the 360 is xbox live. Anyone who has it knows what im talking about.

I play car games, and for realism, u dont go past a Playstation. Xbox might be a better console, i dont know, and more importantly i dont care, the reason i will buy the playstation time and time again, is because it has better games, that are more realistic than Xbox 360. Forza?? are u serious, that is the worst game ive played in ages, and dont get me started on gotham!

: I've played them all too mate and all the car nuts who play games agree that Forza has the best game play out, not sure on graphics but to the average Joe they look the same as GT games. Burnouts in GT? Nope, Doughnuts that don't stop after one rotation? Nope. Smoke? Nope. Drifting properly? Nope. The engine sounds on GT4 and the rest are crap....the Cuda sounds like a turbo.

hahaha, who gives a **** about burnouts?? not me, i can drift very well thanks on GT4, i suggest u practice a bit more and select the right diff to do it;) Also, have u tried turning all the driving aids off??? Forza is **** game play, it has no realism when it comes to the cars handling or anything, it kind of reminds me of V8supercars which is another Pathetic game thats on both consoles!

I do agree though that the engine sounds in GT4 could be better.
