Default Ban Alcohol Sponsorship at Clipsal 500

:

http://www.news.com.au/adelaidenow/s...005962,00.html

I don't condone drink driving and actually usually don't drink anything if I have to drive, but Sandra Kanck must've had a few when she came up with this idea.

God people like this get me angry! For christ sake its sponsorship, its not telling people to go out and get smashed and then go race a V8 is it.
This world's gone crazy! Its like that other thread that was saying about a TV ad being banned because there was a toddler driving it and it supposedly promotes toddlers to drive..... yeah exactly WTF!

It happened first with Tobacco, it was not going to be long until someone suggested that it occur with alcohol...

Unlike tobacco, if you drink responsibly you should not have long term problems. Each alcohol company promotes responsible drinking and this would include not drinking and driving.

I think it is a weak argument. The association with vehicles is only through professional racing not the sponsorship of developing a built-in esky and special stubby holder in a road car.

What is next? Ban racing all together because it promotes irresponsible use on vehicles on our roads?

I think every V8 supercars driver should be made to drink a 6 pack before the race. Be a lot more interesting.

Like Rickchelle Kelly can handle a half dozen. He'd be dancing on the table tops stripping after his first can.

The lady is a tool, so is the lady trying to ban alcohol advertising. :

Now, now.....they may have a point, just look at Bathurst last year when Jack Perkins nailed Skaife........proof that alcohol advertising leads to acidents!

Alcohol sponsorship promotes drinking a particular brand o alcohol over another while sitting on the couch watching the V8s, not drinking and driving.

Come on...they're the Democrats. What else can they do? Wasting time and oxygen is their job.

As stated, all companies promote safe and responsible drinking and none of them condone drink-driving. In my opinion, the producers of alcohol are doing their job.

Unfortunately, homo-sapiens is a stupid breed of animal who in today's society have forgotten how to be self-responsible. As a result, they'll look for anybody to blame.

The idea is to have a drink or two and leave it at that.

The problem comes from those fools who have 30 beers then drive and kill others.

Once again, there has to be an element of self responsibility. That's what being an adult is all about. If you can't be responsible, then buy yourself a cot and stay in it.

LOL Wayne, but I think you mean Caltex for Ingall! I feel like taking a bite out of some Orrcon steel tubing just because Frosty's car is sponsored by it!

IT worked with the Winfield Cup in rugby league......

It worked with the Benson and Hedges world series....

It will happen.....wont happen in the next couple of years, but eventually there will be no alcohol sponsorship of motor racing.

Yeah lets ban Car ads too.

They make people buy and drive cars which cause fatal crashes.

Lets also ban fast food ads. People buy fast food, get fat and die.

Lets also ban............................

I think they should cancel v8 supercar racing alltogether, change it to inline 4cyl 1983 ford laser licance testing

V8's racing is just plain stupid and encourages young drivers to be "HOONS" on our streets.

Yeah, it's not safe for babies, displeying a powerpoint encourages hoon behaviour now due to the speed electricity travles young drivers try to replicate this behaviour and attempt match this volocity in 40km/h school zones.
