Ok, so lately, i've noticed more and more 'commercial' ads on pay TV (and I know members here have posted mentioning it around the place) and it irked me, but I was lazy and did nothing.
Now, I was sitting there watching channel V just today (don't ask me why, that channel's gone down hill baad) and of course, and ad break comes on.. But this isn't even an ordinary pay TV one, nor a commerial ad. It was a freakin telemarket thing about freakin space boots! The crap that's not even on normal TV until 3am in the morning, was on pay TV, at PRIME TIME. Not only was it a stupid ad for a stupid product, it was really bad quality and shat me up the wall with the whole call this number style of thing : Sooo, anyway. Enough ranting, I know there's an agency or something where you can write in complaints for TV, but i'm pretty sure there's a different one for cable TV. Does anyone know what it is? And I figure, if 80 people (or much less) complaining can get descent ad's pulled off tellie, surely there are some more people on here who have pay tv are sick of it and could spare a few minutes to write something in or tell a few mates. I'm not expecting to stop all ad's completely, but surely there's something you can do to stop this crap coming onto pay tv at any time, stuff that's only fit for normal tv in the early hours of the morning?? Yep you're totally right.
Pay TV has began to go down the crapper for over a year now since they've been gradually adding more ads. Maybe we could organise all of the fordforums.com Pay Tv subscribers to put in a complaint at the same time? |

Pretty much got Pay TV when it was released. A big reduction in ads. One of the reasons we jumped on it.
But now it has gone to hell, the same amount if not more ads. Even those crappy 2 minute ad breaks before they broadcast the last 20sec of a show then the credits that rear there ugly heads (esp. on Ten). It is also annoying that free to air still get programs long before they ever reach Pay. Fox8 depend on the Simpsons (ranging from the basic 6 episodes a day, which are 2 episodes repeated. All the way up to 2 week non stop marathons, they do stop to show WWE due to contract agreements) and yet Fox8 is a few seasons behind Ten. It makes me wonder. But I am thankful for Pay TV for 1 reason. It offers a bigger selection of crap to watch. |

FTA sucks for informercials. There are people who do stay up late and watch TV and this is what we are offered. On topic. As for pay TV. I think it's a case of if you don't have it you want it and when you do have it, it's not all that great. I wouldn't appreciate paying for TV and having all the commercials. I would have thought they would of made enough money of subscription fees and now are getting greedy. |

I got foxtel when i first came out years ago , ther was probably 2 minutes worth 'maximum' of add between shows ( it was bearable ), but within a year they were breaking half hour shows in half and inserting 5 minutes worth of adds inbetween the two 15minute parts. Then the adds got longer before and after shows.
I had enough after a year and rang to have it disconnected, they asked me why and i told them i can watch commercials on normal tv for free ! . I missed it for a week or 2 after having it disconnected ( there was the 1 or 2 odd good shows ), but after that and since i havent missed it. I would never bother with it ever again unless they remove all the commercials completely.

I'll be in for some anti-ad action. Digital Austar (through Telstra) for me.

Not that I get offended by it : but here in WA we have the time difference so we are getting those "adult" adds showing up at like 9:30 10:00, I'm sure there has been some pretty angry parents when there 10 year old is on school holidays or something and is watching an add with a girl holding a mobile screeming like shes having sex! |

I think a whole bunch of individuals ringing up would be more benificial than just a petition with 50-100 peoples names on it.
While we're on the subject of Pay TV does anyone else find that the packaging of the channels are really annoying since you can't select individual channels? |

Um, maybe just not get pay TV and save the money and buy the DVDs of what you really like.

Yep , agree with you all .
We got Austar put on when it was $49 a month , just looked at our current bill (arrived today) $ 78.45 for the same package and we haven't taken up the Digital offer . The only reason we keep it on is the kids watch Discovery/National Geo/History quite a bit & I don't sleep real well (can tell by my post times :togo: ) and there's next to nothing on FTA during the night , otherwise it would be "out the door".

Combined with the pay TV adds, more & more shows from foxtel are appearing on free to air TV.
Cheaters has been on for a while and coming soon to 9 is "I shouldn't be alive" Sure they'll slot Maury Povich in there somewhere :P |

Thank God for torrents.
I barely have the time to watch TV, and when I do only crap is on! On the otherhand, set up a torrent to download before I sleep, get home the next day from work and tada - the nights viewing is in place. |

The increasing of ads is becoming quite annoying and one of the reasons why I won't get Pay TV when I move out of home in a few weeks time.
It is a shame really, I would have liked to have gotten Pay TV for the Busch Series and Footy season. |
