Default Vx Clubsport Cai, Exhaust, Cam,tune 405rwhp

a good mate of mine and also an arch rival in cars got sick of
being blown by my baxr8

vx clubsport 255i
he had cai, full exhaust, rip shifter, done 13.9 pb
dynoed 296rwhp

i had

cai, headers, tune, 410 diff gears pb 13.006
i dynoed 330rwhp

he just fitted a cam and tune
and dynoed 405rwhp and his car pulls to 7000rpm limiter
(picked up 105hp cam & tune!!!!)

his total cost
just under $5000

my total cost, with some cheap parts too :
$5000

his tuner predicts easy low 12's possibly high 11's with slicks
my car does 13 flats and possibly high/mid 12's with slicks

i have no where to go for an n/a mod my boss cant compete for the cost!

Depends on who you talk to BPR don't belive its worth a cam upgrade in a 260, G&D Performance and Herrod do, if you want some low down grunt, get the Vernier gears as from what i have read they unleash the beast within the Boss.

Then with Rods, Headwork, more compression pulling all the way from the basement to the 7,000+ RPM rev limit of a built boss it's bye, bye LS1, depends on how much you want to spend.

Bang for buck the XR8 won't touch the LS1.

Get a XR6T and more for less is an easy winner.

No problems they all do it, the old push rod motor takes some stick, most set the 1st gear to 6800 rpm its considered a safe level.
Dollar for dollar the modular engine cant compete with an LS1, and because of ongoing development in the States they have something new every 6 months.
How good is it when you buy a camshaft for $700 there is loads of this stuff in the States and here in Oz.

Meh my bog as stock MY03 kept ground with my mate's VX R8. Both stock as a rock. Even though he kept brake testing me to lose boost. Had **** all on me! Nearly rear ended him to be exact!

Have to say mark im suprised by that, my mate had his VYII SS with Bolt on's and a tune set to 6600Rpm, Im sure from memory his tuner advised that he shouldn't go much higher than that or that there wasn't much point to. (For an on the street application)

100% daily drivers they cant flash tunes like we do, like all tuners opinions will be different, I get to hear a lot about the LS1 world, i have a mate who is up to speed on the new stuff every week.
check this sig and it did have a 4000 rpm hi-stall now has a new one from the states 3600 rpm works better than the Aussie made 4000.
Cast iron block, (alloy wont hold the engine together) 6.6L, VE Ported heads which are so good even with out porting.
All the good stuff build by a guy who builds $100,000 race boat engines.
This is his daily driver, his engine would be worth around $30k all the good stuff only used..

They seem to need a cam to get past the low down Torque hole, there are many other ways, but a cam really wakes the sleeping beast.

dont worry JAYBA thats the price you pay to have some sweet quad cam technology under your bonnet,
tell him if you wanted bang for buck you would have done what holden did and put in an antique motor that has had a 10 year head start in performance research, if you wanted pushrods you have built a clevo :P

also remember how much he has to spend to get his hp higher then what it is now, i would say 400rwhp is about the limit for his motor if he wants to keep it stock stroke and N/A....dont worry our boss is still a baby, wait till it gets older.

thats the thing taipan

his stroker is a monster too approx 550hp run a 10.70 in a ht
is now in a lighter torana

my clevo is in the clevo combo thread

2v headed standard stroke

definitely time for 'larger cam' and chi alloys!
