Default From 15's to low 14 or high 13 seconds hows it feel?

Just a question for the guys that have run a mid to low 14 second or high 13 1/4 mile..

Did the car actually feel faster than the time or were you surprised to get a mid to low 14 second pass because the car didnt feel that quick ?

I am hoping Hamo, tripower, geza fs5 or any e series boys can answer this question.

you really weren't impressed with that XR6T you test drove hey Stav?

I guess its all relative , If your everday runner does a 14.7 quarter mile and you jump into a flat or low 14 sec car , it probably wont feel much quicker whereas if you drove a 18 sec xe falcon low 14's would feel like you are going like a rocket

It's weird ... some vehicles don't feel as quick as they really are though.

I know that when I first cracked just under the 14 sec (I had run consistent at 14 flat previously) I definitely felt I'd had a goodun. Yes, you can feel it. Especially when you get a good holeshot.

I have thrown my head back on and a custom no name cam.The car is going what appears to me in my perception as fast as its ever been and felt quicker than the xr6t that I drove the other day.I do stress felt. How fast it is going to pull is anyones guess.Maybe its all the revving making it feel faster.

When my car went from a 15.19 to a 14.7 I noticed the difference. Now with this setup it feels as though it is another notch above in performance from the 14.773 time.I floor it and it chirps gears in the auto without a shift kit.

Guys it is irrelevant about the cam.I have data from 2 years ago from exhaustive gtech measurements. I am pulling the gtech out and doing back to back compares between the different setups/cams

So does anyone else have experiences on my query? If the car runs a quick time is it noticeable in the power or did the car feel slower then strangely ran a great time?

its hard to compare this sort of stuff Stav because everyone 'feels' different. to me, what may seem fast, may be a 16 second quarter, because that is what i am use to.

or ill be passenger in my mates astra, then jump back in the AU and i feel like im going at warp speed.

your best and most accurate bet is to go down to WSID for the next couple of weeks trying out your various setups.

I know what it's like, I jump out of my 3v BA ghia which will run decent times low 14's possibly 13's (never raced it), and I get into v8Capri's turbo 3v BA Ghia and boy, is that thing fast. So yeah, you can really notice the difference I say. :P

i must say, i have been in a new xr5 turbo focus, and it feels HELLA quick. but i was in it when it nearly got beaten by a vx s pac. so it cant be as quick as it "feels"

It can depend on the power curve, like if it as a sudden spike it will feel very quick like a turbo car. Also IMO cars feel quicker in the passenger seat.

I used to own a stock auto BA XR6T. Most deceptively fast car I have owned because of the power delivery being so smooth. Took it to the drags, 1st pass I ever did on a strip, 13.98@99MPH. Suprised the hell out of me, was expecting a mid 14 to be honest for my 1st shot. I suppose the auto + turbo combination is why it didn't 'feel' that quick, but the timeslips don't lie do they?

My best time in that car ended up being a 13.84@100MPH after about 5 runs. Good fun. It even ran a 14.01 in 38 degree heat once! Great car that was :(

With the XR8, that just 'feels' fast even though it would probably never pull a high 13. Probably because of the exhaust and the manual factor.

I'll let you know Stav. I'm still working on getting my times down even quicker from the Order Booth at Macca's to where you pay and pick up your order. Reasonable times, but need to improve a little.

HAHAHA funny mate!! : I thought youd tell everyone bout my fuel mixture with caramel topping!! :

If we were to believe half the performance shops around then caramel will boost octane by 20 so 98 ron fuel will have 118 ron after.Thats worth more powerthan a big cam!! Its all in the calories as well.It is hidden energy.Thats why I throw a big mack and fries in the fuel tank at the drags..thats alot of energy and cut .5 second off the 1/4 mile run..:evil_laug

stav,i felt the difference when i fitted the streetfighter cam and cai.it definately had more punch up top.i also felt the difference going from the 3.45's to 3.89's.even when i fitted the pacie's it felt quicker.
when i fitted the head it felt heaps quicker ,probably from all the extra torque i picked up.just put your foot down and go.but it catualy went slower at the track.its a strange science thats forsure.
pull the old gtech out and do some back to back comparisons.i'm positively sure your going to be pulling better times with your current setup.

yea, i agree. you can notice the difference between mods. the biggest one for me was getting a lighter flywheel, and a clutch that behaves itself. It has nearly taken 0.5 off my qtr times.

I dont think my car feels that quick on the street though. Its too hard to launch without bogging down, or hitting the limiter.

Well, I've just gone from 18s on the AU to 15s on the EL, and the difference is so bouncy it's not funny.
