Budget Night !!!!!!

well in 20 minutes the budget will be revealed to australia . so i thought i'd start a thread to see what people think . post here . i'm looking forward to what it reveals . being an election year and all .

lets keep this thread non political, and not turn it into a debate about political parties , and therefore we may be able to keep the thread open for some interesting feedback . cheers

It will be nice to know how much more the Government has taken off us. I get angry when there is a big surplus for it just really means they are taking more off of us.

Surely you are not serious. Its called saving for a rainy day. And because they need to win some people over (or atleast thats what the media will have us believe) then Im sure the Libs think its going to bucket down this year.

Either way having a surplus is naturally a good idea, depends on how the economy is going. Its been pretty strong for a while now, so perhaps the money is there incase things go bad.

Its been happening for a while now...

Basically the government announces what they are going to spend for the year and where.

Usually depends on who they need to suck up to.

But on a non-beer related note... Is it just Aged Pensioners getting the $500 once off payment, or all Pensioners? I didn't catch all of it.

Don't think he was implying that??

Theres a difference between people who can work and chose not to and someone whos got a dissability. There are plenty of people out there who deserve to be paid pension or dissability payment!

I think it was a pretty good night, doubt labor have a chance now getting in, yet theres always going to be people who vote for them!

Sorry mate, I didn't mean to come across like that. I meant that 70 and older receive the 500 dollar bonus, and not dole bludgers who got their hopes up.

Fingers crossed for dual carriageway between Canberra and the Hume but it looks like they are announcing road infrastructure details bit by bit up to the election.
Be nice to get my $15K childcare rebate cheque though....

The budget overall seems quite good for everyone. I'm happy to see that there is a lot of thought been put into future planning of Australia to ensure that the Australian economy remains as strong as its performed over the past 10 years.

Yep, the Government have done a great job with the economy. I'm hoping they win office again as they can actually manage money.
