Hello, due to having a 14mth old girl AND following a moment of poor impulse control I have another one well on the way, I have got rid of my AU2 XR8 and now drive an AU1 Fairmont Ghia VCT.
Help its standard!!! Family comes first naturally, but I mean yikes! I do however have the option to buy some AU2 XR8 springs cheaply as the current owner is going lower. Will these fit my AU1 Fairmont Ghia VCT 6 cylinder? they are both IRS and that seems to be the only differnece looking at the King Springs catalogue, else they list them as the same part no. regardless of 6 or 8 cylinder. Anyone know for sure if the factory standard springs are interchangeable? Regards Family man, V8 no more..... |

yup, they are the same springs on the XR8 as on the Tickford optioned Fairmonts anyhow. Straight swap.

The only thing you will have to get is the IRS upper camber kit that the XR has & Ghias don't have to align the rear end unless its got the tickford suspension. Noticed you still went the AU again. The amount of problems I'am reading about the B series has concered about buying one.Sorry I sold my AU Ghia

Cheers for the feedback, its got IRS but it doesn't seemed to be lowered so the camber kit must be a go.
This is my 4th AU, awesome cars, comfortable, practical, and the non XR's can match or better 2.0lt cars for economy. The father inlaw has some 4cyl honda thing that used as much gas as my old xr8, the ghia kills it for economy, power, comfort. This one is going to be a keep until its driven into nothing car so I'll spend few bucks on her. |
