Sorry to hear it's still playing up.

Hope you get it sorted soon, having constant trouble like that must be very annoying indeed.

it sounds like it still had an idle speed issue..I have heard of the idle speed circuit in the ECU failing burns out or something so replacing ISC valve does nothing as it has to send and reeive information from ECU..Get ECU checked...I no this happens on EF's but unaware for AU..

I'd take the $100 punt on the S5 solenoid over the $!!!!!!!! rebuild.

I got the car back from the Gearbox mob today and they could find nothing wrong with it!!! they tested everything and checked the codes and it all passed with flying colours. He reckons if my gearbox or torque converter was playing up the car would go into limp home mode which it didnt do. he seems to think it is an electrical issue.
I have noticed that it only shudders when going down hill, with the aircon on and in D (drive). it does not shudder with the aircon on in 3rd or in D with the aircon turned off.the other day it shuddered while sitting at the traffic lights. I am thinking ECU, my car is on straight gas, is there a special ecu for lpg or will one from a petrol car be ok??
I remember years ago the ecu on my XF filled up with water and a workmate says the ecu on his EB filled up with water as well so maybe its full of water?? will look this weekend. I still think its a minor problem causing this! just got to find it.

Well that's good news that the gearbox is fine!

Just need to keep tracking it down, eliminating one possible cause at a time.

Keep going Tony, you'll get it sorted!

Hey all me again, Well this morning when the wife went to start the car it turned over but wouldnt start, it then wouldnt turn over, sounded like a flat battery, it just made a ticking noise as they do. Rang the RACQ as I was at work and they turned up and opened the bonnet and was nearly knocked over by the smell of LPG. He was afraid to test the spark because of the smell of gas. He tested the battery and it was fine, he put on his jumper leads and it still did the ticking thingy and wouldnt turn over, he left it a minute and then it started, he says it was flooded and this stopped the motor from turning over (some sort of self protect). I didnt know that you could flood a LPG motor???.
But it has also got me thing?? I always thought that the shuddering was caused by the motor wanting to stall due to lack of fuel, WHAT IF THE SHUDDERING WAS CAUSED BY THE MOTOR GETTING TO MUCH FUEL!!
But then what would cause this, Throttle body sensor - LPG converter maybe???
I have also learned that the LPG mob that has twice tuned my car in the last 2 months insant as good as I was lead to beleive, I have discovered a few things that they didnt fix such as a broken earth lead and a exposed live wire going to the solenoid.
There is a LPG mob in Brisbane who claim to be able to dyno tune LPG cars, anyone had this done and did it work or am I better to go to a LPG specialest recommended by the RACQ.
Cheers Tony
(my car is a good Martini maker, shaken not stirred)

Default It's Fixed

I can't beleive it but I have fixed it. I opened the fuse box by the battery and was looking at the fuses in there. I noticed that they were corroded on the terminal's and went about cleaning them with a small file and some sand paper, gave them all a spray with WD40 after they were cleaned and put them back in. But then I pulled out one of the Relay's in there and the terminal's were that badly corroded it had GREEN powder like stuff on them, I cleaned every terminal on every Relay and sprayed them all with WD40. WOW the starter motor turns over sooooooo fast and the car starts after about 3 seconds of cranking instead of running the battery flat. There has been no Shuddering or loss of Drive since. I suggest anyone with the same problems I was having to have a good look at your fuses and Relays, just because a Fuse isn't blown dosn't mean it works, I don't know what Fuse or Relay did the trick but it sure is nice to have my old car back.
Cheers Tony

Well, I had a problem alot like that... Except for me, I took it to my cousins house (he is a mechanic) and he just placed in a new master cylinder and it stopped.

The symptoms were very much the same as yours. For me the time it happened to me the most was when I was either driving for 3+ hours or I was really giving the engine.

Good to hear you got it all sorted ... I guess desperate times call for desperate measures ... I guess if i get bored I'll check mine out ... not that I have an issue with it though.

as i have a 2.5" exhaust you can hear the rev quite clearly

does or did yours do this?
My AUII Tradesman does this as well, when I'm using the air conditioning, and sitting at the lights. There is a reference about this on page 34 of the AUII owners manual, which suggests that it is normal. I have a stock exhaust so it can't be heard. The car just tries to creep forward a bit. I'd say nothing to worry about.

Thats probably the hi or lo pressure switch in your aircon sensing a problem and switching the compressor off till the pressure drops or rises. Could be your R134 gas is a bit low as that will cause the pressure probs. Happens when there is insufficient airflow thru the condensor like when stopped at traffic lights.
