Hey all will it be a difficult task to change my AU 2 forte interior to a fairmont interior?
Would it be a big hard job? |

you may need to do wiring for power windows, but door cards, and seats are the same. how much of the interior do you want to do? if you want to do the console and dash, it will end up being a little more involved, console is an easy fit, but depends if it has foot well lights, dash is harder as it will require re-wiring and not everything will work, unless you fit up all underbonnet options from donor fairmont. IMHO, it would be easier, and cheaper, to buy a fairmont. but good luck with it, let us know what you decide to do

there is no wiring to do with a dash transplant if you buy it complete it will be wired in and you will only have to connect the plugs but yes you will have to fit under bonnet bits like cruise control but it is still a big job

Yes and no. It depends, do you have a basic set ot tools?
Door trims, the plastic pillar covers and the seats are easy. You will need torx bits to change the seats though. Are you changing the carpet, ie plush pile carpet. The factory sound deadener is glued to the carpet. You want to change your carpet you will either a: have to raplace the sound deadening with some thing like dyna mat or b: put the new carpet over the old carpet. As for the dash, it is harder. Its not a bolt in job. I know this because Stav and I tried. Dont get me wrong most of it does bolt in but things like the climate control is button opertated not a rotating dial liek in the forte. You will need a HIN modual and other bits and peices to get it all to work.

Hey so if i was to get a complete fairmont interior and all the other bits i woudl need woudl it still be a difficult task to change the dash over? i already have cruise on my forte. I really only want the dash as i have a seat of recaro seats for the frot and the back seat has been retrimmed ot match the fornt seats. So the back seat is really only a 2 seater now and not 3. As for door trims i have a custm made set of door trims as well.

That said of course it is technically illegal to add or change any items in the car that weren't supplied with the car or an option available at the time of manufacture. However it's something that is rarely enforced to the letter of the law though, unless you really PO the cops. |

I have a complete dash with wiring loom, pink BCM etc from an AU Fairmont Ghia. Was going to put into the SR, however I think it would be way to hard for the effort. One has climate control other has none etc. I believe you have to change all the fan/heaters over etc. Maybe front windscreen would need to come out to do swap?
There is probaly a lot of little things as well. I just fitted a car phone kit to SR and found out it has the loom missing for Radio intergration. So even though I have complete kit, I dont think I will be trying anything soon. |
