As the title suggests, The Trick and Mansweto team have their new big block engine at the Nitro championships, and after a delay box error during their first of two qualifiers today, the second pass was a 7.18 @ 191mph. I am sure you will all agree this is an awesome time to pull straight off the trailer, for an unsorted new engine combo, and don't forget, this engine is still Naturally Aspirated.
Because of only two passes for today, they have yet to back it up, but all signs point to a faster back up run for Saturday. If any of you get a chance to come down to Sydney Dragway this weekend, the Trick and Mansweto boys will be one to watch. Well done to Tristan Triccas and Jason Mansweto, and hope you guys can claim back the SS/A record with a good run during the next two days for the Ford guys. |

I have been chatting to Tricky all week in the lead up with the new combo, which was only run in on the dyno on Monday, and raced for the first time today.
There was no time to get a new converter built so the car is leaving the line about 900rpm higher than what is ideal, same thing across the finish line. So once a new converter and diff gears are in place this black Capri will go very close if not run a six second pass.

In actual fact a new convertor was built, but last night at 8:30pm when the engine was finally installed the convertor only locked up at 4000rpm. So they had to use the old one from the 604ci BB engine. Because of the new engine combo, and the fact no one had built one for something like this before, it was made a little too tight.
And yes 6 seconds is the ultimate goal. |

Just an update guys and girls.
First first pass on Saturday was the last qualifying pass before eliminations, and the Balck beast rolled off a 7.14 @ 191mph. Next was round 1 eliminations, and after adjusting the rear suspension, Tricky scored a cherry on the tree and a very slippery 7.34 ET, knocked out in the first round. So next time it hits the track, the convertor will be right, and a better base to start chasing times. Unfortunately because at least 1 of the times was not gained in an elimination round, the Trick & Mansweto boys didn't get their SS/A record back yet, but with two times well under the current record and an unsorted new combo, it is only a matter of time. Will keep you all posted on their next pass.

Awesome video, thanks for that. It looked even worse from behind, I thought he was going for the far wall.
Just for everyone's information, this is a video of a special exhibition run at the end of Saturday night, after they were knocked out, they were the last car to go out. It was a good end to the night imo as the two previous cars infront shat themselves trying to do burnouts, certainly got the crowd going.
