On the weekend I dropped a cylinder (#4) in my AU Ghia 2001 and and the RACV guy told me that in the AU VCT I6 each coil pack runs two cylinders so that if it was the coil pack then I would have dropped 2 cylinders, is this correct? I am putting in a new sparkplug tonight in the hope that that is the problem.

could also be an injector problem man...
just a thought.. i honestly havent heard that about the coil pack, but, from memory they are segmented in 3 segments, so, racv man may be on the money... is it dual fuel..?

could even be a lead mate.. possibly not on properly or broken...

Yes, it misfires on both petrol and LPG, RACV guy said leads we ok after testing.
