Robbed!! All au fords have major flaws!!

I just came back from westfields parramatta. I am not happy.Not Westfields fault but mine and the thieving scum who got into my car ,stole my gtech and laptop computer.

My fault was that I forgot to reactivate the alarm siren after my gearbox was redone after power disconnect yesterday.Our locks have a major structural fault that ford should be held accountable for.I will not post whats wrong in public but those who I know of this forum I will tell by pm. Nrma do not cover me for any theft from in my car.I wish I caught the thieving scum. My handle is damaged and lock is inside the door.After inspecting the cars locking system I wonder why ford put a lock on at all.They should have just put a toilet vacant not vacant privacy lock. I think this is my last ford after seeing this disgaceful effort by their engineering section.I hope the ba's re not like this piece of crp!! :evil3:

Thats no good ,especially this time of year.
Ive got 2 AUs (4 in the family too)if you wouldnt mind,letting me know what happened and whats needed to keep our possessions ours(by means of upgrades/mods) would be appreciated.

I dont think BA/Fs are any better for security from what ive read on the B series threads........

Home and contents dont cover it.I am lucky in a way though.My amp could not be removed by the way I bolted it down.The roof mount dvd was hanging down but they could not remove it properly becasue the base plate and wiring was bolted tight.

Were they in plain sight? If so, then that probably contributed to them wanting was inside the car. The only thing in plain sight in my car is a couple of empty water bottles.

The car was empty bar the navman holder on the window.Computer was hidden under rag in back foot area.Navman luckily was at home. I am kicking myself for not switching on the siren.In any case the door would have been damaged. Also I have around 6 k worth of insurance with nrma. The car is business insured.It seems that my tools or equipment in the back is not insured. NRMA better get ready to go into the chicken selling business because before the night is through they will lose 6 k of my business.

Westfield Parramatte is a hole!!!

My last car got broken into and got my tacho stolen. Also several of my mates have gotten theres broken into as well! And not on just one occasion! One person got broken into 3 times within 2 months!!!

That sucks, sorry to hear it mate. Apparently they did put a steel reinforcement plate in place for series 3 AU's, so possibly this could be retrofitted to earlier series? Worth checking out, it'd probably be the easiest option.

I have just taken photos and looked at them on my computer.I will not be posting these as yet if at all. The problem is very obvious if you take your handle out and look at it.the problem is the door lock obviously.The key door lock steel wire connection will be removed on my car .I will then screw in a metal plate blocking access to the door lock button which pops up and down.The car will only be accessed via central locking remote unless the glass is broken.I will also install a secret surveilence camera in my car which will record when people enter my car.From there there will be enough visual evidence to identify the criminals and cause them to fear the ground they stand on.Of course with police co operation.

You could put a rear door handle on the front too couldn't you, if you're not going to use a key why have the hole there... Might keep the potential thieves guessing a bit too.

Thats an idea.I am a bit cranky at the moment and words spoken in anger are not always the most rational. I think it would be great to have some form of key access but I must redesign the ford item.If I owned a ba gt or typhoon I would be very worried until they are checked out.Are they like the au door handle and lock?

BAs and BFs have the same crap design door handles. My BA was broken into two years ago by what I suspect is the same method they used on your AU. They jammed something into my lockbarrel, broke through the plastic between the doorhandle and door skin and then just lifted the door handle assembly to unlock the door. I lost my briefcase and all it's contents. Since then I no longer leave valuables in my car.

thats too bad mate . having had mine broken into 3 time so far each time they smashed the window so a securer locking system wouldnt have helped at all ,if these bums want something they are gonna get it by what ever means .but i do like the idea of a cctv system inside at least i can identifie them if they try it again

I think its pathetic we are limited to surveillance incase of personal privacy... Laws are getting to screwy... BUT there is a system 6+months ago that was on A Current Affair about young drivers and a computer logging their driving and vehicle parameters... Sounds interesting to me...

Check out my drivers door- I found this problem out two weeks after having my AU1 and I gave Ford a fair friggen serve over their design.....

I've had three AU's now and all I have put rear door handles in the front

You don't need to do that mate- just a rear door handle in the front.

A knurled nut set in platic is a woeful attempt at securing a door lock

Posting a photo of a door handle that Ford make and claim is an acceptable design is not a "how to' guide

Mods can delete that which they feel is not appropriate- I'm tellking you do somthing about it- a new door handle is about $27 from Ford plus painting and takes 1/2 an hour to fit.......
