Sound like a lifter noise.you might have to replace lifter.Try thicker oil if that don't fix it replace lifter,To much oil wont cause that noise.

So let me get this straight
you had no troubles so you used nulon lifter free up treatment then you had troubles with a noisy lifter?

I put the treatment stuff through it, becuase it was sitting before xmas with no oil in it, the motor, so i thought id put that stuff through to clean the bowls of the engine out and get rid of the crap out, and old oil
Obvisouly it cleaned it out agressively and now i have tick tick tick noise, its due for it service next weekend, so ill change the oil, if it doesent fix it, i will have to spend the 170 bucks for a set of new lifters and replace em.

I'd have left it as it was. Then when I went to change the oil, put in an oil flush, drive around for half an hour, and then drain the oil whilst its still hot. If you're really feeling pedantic, fill with diesel oil. Then after about a week or so, add another oil flush, 30mins driving, drain when hot. Change the filter at that point, and fill with good oil. Thats going overboard, but if you're that worried, it'll do the trick.

Hang on, in your first post you said the noise is coming from under the sump, so why does everyone think it is lifter noise? Did the lifter treatment stuff quieten down your lifters, so now you can hear the noise from the sump. I traced my tick tock noise coming from back of the sump, to the flywheel ring gear. there is a fairly recent thread about it.

frd906, i added Nulon lifter stuff to my most recent oil last oil change (about two weeks ago) using Nulon 20-50 (same viscosity as you.)
And ever since according to my gauge on the dash it takes longer to get oil pressure up on cold starts and it also makes the same knock/tick noise that you explain! I think I will just dump the oil and do another oil change just I'm not gonna change the filter cause its a k&n and only 2 weeks old Let us know what you do, and I'll let you know when i get around to rehanging my oil if it returns it back to normal! Cheers ED Ford Falcon

i would take a video of mine but i wouldn't know how to post it up!...
Lifters are at the top of the motor nowhere near the sump, and even if it was that which was causing the noise it'd get quieter as the motor warms up wouldn't it? What brand of oil did you use? I've always been happy with Nulon products till now! lol

After adding the lifter treatment, does it makes the noises at the same volume from when the car is cold started till it reaches operating temp? or wont you drive it?

When i was at my mechs other day, the noise in my vids wasnt there at all,
