i have been chasing a suspension noise in the front.
considering replacing the upper and lower control arm bushes and upper and lower ball joints. as i'm soon to do my brakes maybe it will be a good time to do it all together. i don't have a press to do the bushes, can i get by with a g clamp/vice to remove the old and fit the new? i'm thinking i can just use a ball joint separator for the ball joints. has anyone done this at home successfully without a press? |

I did the upper arm bushes with a vice, but used a press for everything else. I don't see why you couldn't use a vice, however it will need a fairly big opening to allow for the bush, spacer and control arm to fit in there. For the price of a large vice, you would be better off buying a press.
The ball joints will need a 50mm spacer tube to press them in. For the lower control arm, I used a 85mm tube spacer for the front bush and a 75mm for the rear bush. To get the bushes out of the lower control arm I just put a scissor jack in between the bushes and pushed them out. |

Have you considered your sway bar D bushes as well?
